Breakfast with founders đ„ I recently met Harvey Jones
Harvey is one of the co-founders at Kotini - a platform helping growing estate agencies to automate their sales onboarding and compliance.
If anyone has been through a house purchase or sale, you'll know it's painful all round. If you might in the future, let's hope your estate agent uses Kotini!
We spoke about:
- Understanding your market. Although consumer markets can be a lower barrier to entry, the rising costs of acquisition and brand awareness makes B2B2C distribution channels more relevant than ever. In some cases, B2B markets might the avenue with consumer value add being the bi-product.
- Staying close to your customer. You can't build a business behind a screen. Kotini have spent time with their customers (real estate agents) to find out where the bottlenecks and challenges are. Product built for your customers is a sign of a higher quality of revenue.
- Build lean. It's easy to look ahead at potential growth and what you need to get there. Though understanding how to scale your existing resources and capacity first can act as a more fruitful return on your own investment. A lean operating model can allow you to be more nimble and make faster decisions or pivot if necessary.Â

I'm always a fan of businesses that are digitising traditional industries. It comes with its challenges, namely, user adoption and behaviours - but if cracked, there's plenty of potential to go.
