Breakfast with Founders 🥐 This week I met with Zayd Lakhi

Zayd is the founder of AmpliSynth - a biotech startup on a mission to make custom DNA design and synthesis rapid, in-house and affordable.

We spoke about:

- The opportunity to improve hardware supply chains in the world of drug discovery (think vaccines, drugs for chronic illnesses etc.) - the reasons and therefore opportunities to improve what has otherwise been a very slow moving part of the industry.

- The geo-political risks that surround biotech and healthtech, particularly with the rise of AI in these segments. It's no surprise that this has come up as causes for concern as we get into the idea of 'AI warfare'.

- Raising more sooner to move faster. The pros and cons to both, which led us to a little bit of a 'what does this mean' in the US vs continental Europe when you have access to more capital earlier on.

- Making potentially scientifically or technically complex solutions easy to understand for those not experts in the industry, particularly when pitching to investors or being able to explain the problem you are solving to others.

- The focus on problem obsession to deliver revenue through the path of least resistance in an otherwise tricky and slow to navigate ecosystem. In this case, Zayd has personally seen the impacts of the problem he is solving at Amplisynth.

- Being and assembling domain experts that balance the scientific ability to dig deep in the area, whilst being commercially minded along the way.

Solutions like Amplisynth truly have the ability to be game changers in global drug delivery challenges.
