Callum Woodcock - Founder - WineFi

Updated: Nov 14, 2024

Breakfast with wine investors đŸ· Today I met with Callum Woodcock

Callum is the founder of WineFi đŸ·- a platform that helps consumers and investors alike build an expertly-curated portfolio of fine wine, managed for you from sourcing to sale.

I met Callum immediately after he'd received some great news so it was a really energising breakfast!

Asking people for perspectives, questions and help is an invaluable way to progress your efforts by leaps and bounds.

We spoke about:

- Leveraging networks, your experience and who you know to think outside the box. Asking people for perspectives, questions and help is an invaluable way to progress your efforts by leaps and bounds.

- Choosing your early investors. Angels vs VCs - need I say more!

- Wine as an asset. Investing in wine is far different to investing in index funds, stocks and shares or premium bonds. There's a lot more to the story. Capital gains tax exempt (though check with your tax advisor! 😁)

- The industry of wine investors typically would see people who are passionate about wine, like to drink it, see it as an art regardless whether they sell all their collections for a profit.

- In bringing this alternative investment to the wider market, it is attracting an investor who is more interested in diversifying their portfolio, but not necessarily one that knows much about wine! Maintaining the romance and art of wine will be an interesting value proposition for WineFi's growth efforts.

- Parallels of the wine trade to other products and markets. And why now!

Fun fact: The UK sets and influences much of the world's wine pricing market! Who would've thought 😄
